Feed-Commerce

By September 13, 2012 No Comments

Two more local food e-commerce clearinghouses, both of which appear to long precede Good Eggs, which we covered in this space just a short while ago. It’s unclear how the offerings or business models differ exactly, though if the proliferation of such ventures is a sign of new food infrastructures being built that’s all to the good. New-York-based WhatIsFresh seems more focussed on allowing people to search for local food producers, whether by location or product (apples for instance), while FoodHub seems geared to business-to-business connections rather than retail services.

One wonders whether any local entrepreneurs are cooking something up along these lines for our fair city by the bay.
