Goodies for Good

By November 21, 2012 No Comments

By the looks of the suburban shopping center parking lot on Saturday, the holiday season has (un)officially begun. This week many of us will celebrate our country’s traditions and give thanks by feasting with friends and family. When you take that plate of gingerbread into work for the holiday party or bake brownies for your neighbor, why not deliver it on a special plate that encourages lucky recipients to “pay it forward”?

Just place something delicious (and preferably homemade) for someone you care about on this plate, and as the treat disappears, the recipient is encouraged to “plate it forward” to an unsuspecting soul. This fun gift idea ($20) was created by the makers of the Boom Boom! Cards. My co-worker brought these cards to my attention when we were looking for ways to brighten up the everyday routine. Each card is printed with a random act of kindness and a unique ID code. After completing the act of “guerrilla goodness,” you can post about it on the Boom Boom! website and follow the chain of goodness on a map. These socially responsible card decks are available in Original, Family, Teen and Green categories.

Sometimes we need small reminders that random acts of altruism should be performed a lot more often.
